Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 61666
ux-ctest: Reload of document failed due to confirmation dialog called for modified documents
Last modified: 2017-05-20 11:15:29 UTC
Reloading function (File-Reload) of documents is unknown. Discard and Cancel buttons distracts user. Keyword: ux-ctest
Fixed (OpenOffice.org 2.3).
Closed.
I don't think that we have fixed anything since we have made the c-test. If the user wants to withdraw changes, made to the current document and wants to return to the last known good state saved before, users in c-test tend to close and then load the document again instead of calling File-Reload from the menu. So the users are asked to Save, Discard or Cancel the modified document by the "Do you want to save dialog". Discard/Cancel seemed to be a problem.
Aha, in my scenario of reloading an existing document I experienced the 'Cancel all changes? Yes No' message. Thanks for revamping your description. Thus issue reopened.
Created attachment 49977 [details] Mockup of warning
I created a mockup of the revamped message. The button label have been renamed so that the context of the message box is easier and quicker now to comprehend. Hi Oliver, who is responsible for this one?
->bh: What use case is behind a "Reload and save changes" action? If I want to reload I do that because either the document has been changed by someone else and I want to get this new revision (for readonly files) or I have made changes that I want to get rid of. Save&Reload doesn't make much - if any at all - sense to me.
Hi Oliver, this issue has nothing to do woth the reload function. The summary and description was a bit misleading, I trapped into it too. I just reworked the dialog a bit, which comes up in case you close a changed doc. Please have a look at the attachment.
