Description nholtz 2006-08-30 15:13:52 UTC
When a presentation is saved as a powerpoint presentation, and then viewd in
Microsoft Powerpoint, math symbols such as parenthesis and sqr root signs are
incorrect (they seem to display as rectangles around the bounding box of the
missing character).

To duplicate:

  1. Open the attached FontDemo1.odp in OO 2.0.3
  2. Save it as a PowerPoint presentation.
  3. View the result in MS Powerpoint.

Please tell me if the OOo and the PPt is on the same system
Comment 6 nholtz 2006-09-05 18:02:29 UTC
The original problem showed up when I created the powerpoint under OO 2.0.3 on
Ubuntu Linux and moved the ppt to Windows XP for viewing. But the behaviour
is the same when I create the ppt under 2.0.3 on Windows and view under
powerpoint *on the same Windows system (machine)*.

I now have more info -- interestingly enough when you "open" the math equation
(that was created in OO and saved as ppt) in PowerPoint, the font symbols get
magically fixed, even if you don't do anything else other than close it again.
Though the size seems to be incorrect (smaller than under OO).

Set to new and change the target.
Comment 8 christian.guenther 2006-09-06 16:19:32 UTC
I can reproduce the bug.
I don't see empty frames but on mysystem the sqr root signs looks very strange.
I can also reproduce the behaviour that it looks ok after changing into the edit
view but that the size get smaller.
According to sj this could be your area. Please have a look.

set target from 2.x to 3.x according to

I have the same problem with version 3.1.0 OOO 300m15 (Build 9371)

At least the problem with the not displayed characters looks to mew like the old
"private-use area" character problem when the exported doc is viewed on a system
with no OpenSymbol/StarSymbol font.
