Apache OpenOffice (AOO) Bugzilla – Issue 71915
files saved as PowerPoint are three times as big as before
Last modified: 2013-08-07 15:21:02 UTC
Chinese (Traditional characters) version. 1. Open a Microsoft PowerPoint file, last saved from Microsoft PowerPoint 2003 or from OpenOffice Impress 2.0.1. 2. Export it from OpenOffice Impress as Microsoft PowerPoint format. 3. Now the size is about three times as big as before. 4. You may try the reverse open-and-save process. 5. This may be related to 71849 (Excel file). Thanks. Qiyao
Created attachment 40885 [details] Saved from OOo 2.0.4
Created attachment 40886 [details] The above (CORRECTION: should be OOo 2.0.1) loaded and saved from OOo 2.0.4
Reassigned.
For 67361 (Word, clicking into "Target milestone" above does not tell us when is "OOo Later" and there is a misspelling in the page "isseus". Since compatibility with Microsoft and its import/export features are an attraction of OpenOffice, we expect this problem to be fixed soon. Similar to the complainer of 67361 (Word), and of 71849 (Excel), and 71915 (PowerPoint), I will be forced to go back to OpenOffice 2.0.1 (the previous official release in Chinese-Traditional-chars) if it will not be fixed "soon". Thanks. Qiyao
Sorry, what I said of 67361 should be 67371.
The responder of 71849 (Excel) asks me to look at 67371 (Word) for "Target settings", but I cannot find any target setting in 67371 (Word). Moreover, I think that the default settings should not save super-big files. Thanks. Qiyao
Does anyone know whether this has been fixed in version 2.1? Since it has not been put into the "Resolved", I don't think so. Thanks. Qiyao
Set to new and change the target.
I tested it with an empty slide and the OOo file (PPT export) was nearly 8 times bigger then the PPT file. Please have a look.
Bug 67371 (for Writer) is destined for OpenOffice 2.3. So if this is a duplicate and will be dealed with together, you may close this issue. Thanks. Qiyao
